Appearance: Clive is tall, with an average build and short blond hair. His expression tends to be serious. He wears unassuming clothing, boots, and a hooded black cloak. Sturm is carried on a sling on his back or under his arm, and protected by a leather rifle scabbard when the weather is poor.
Personality: A grave young man, but not unkind. Clive has a straightforward nature and works determinedly at any job he is set to. At times, his temper and doggedness can override his better judgement. Despite his harsh upbringing within the Tower he can be naïve about the realities of life outside of the Howling Voice Guild. His loyalty to the Guild was once unwavering, but since the end of the Dunan Unification War he has found his mind preoccupied with feelings of doubt concerning the only home he has ever known.
Weapons: Sturm ('Storm') is the Howling Voice Guild's sacred rifle. It is rumoured to be sentient, although in what manner and how it might communicate with its master is unknown.
Occupation: Knight Class Gunner.
Talents: Like any other Knight Class gunner in the Guild, Clive is trained in the use of firearms and the manufacturing of gunpowder. He has studied such fields as chemistry, metallurgy and ballistics. However, beyond this he has very few skills or hobbies thanks to his secluded childhood. His Guild training was limited to combat proficiencies, and as such he has not developed any talents beyond his narrow field of expertise.
Runes: None.
Weaknesses: Clive's childhood was hard, but isolated. He was not allowed to leave the Tower unless it was for the purpose of completing a mission. This lack of experience in dealing with the world outside of the Guild fortress often translates into naivety. With such a narrow scope he often finds it difficult to think outside of the Guild's doctrines. He can be very single-minded as a result.
Clive is not equipped with any runes and does not wield magic. Armed with Sturm, he is a long-distance gunner. Though he has been trained in close-quarter combat, he is nowhere near as effective fighting in that manner and suffers when he is unable to fire from range with Sturm.
History: Clive was born and raised in the Tower, the fortress that serves as the Howling Voice Guild's home and headquarters. He grew up alongside Kelley and Elza. Under their mentor, the Guild Elder Sauro, he endured the gruelling training necessary to become a gunner.
When the time came they all unexpectedly passed the Knight Class Gunner test, rendering them all potentially eligible for the position of Guild Master. In doing so they gained the enmity of the other Guild Elders, who felt threatened by this unbalance of power. The Elders separated the three and appointed Kelley as Guild Master, despite the fact that he had not been accepted by Sturm, the Guild's sentient gun.
The situation came to a head when Clive was one day faced with the news that Kelley was dead and Elza had disappeared. The Elders told him that she had murdered his friend and 'brother' in a rigged duel and stolen the duelling weapons, Stern and Mond. He was then ordered to kill her for her betrayal. Swearing vengeance, Clive set off from the Tower with the gun Sturm.
He pursued her from the Toran Republic al1 the way to Sajah. In Sajah, Elza offered him a choice of her pistols for a duel: Stern would stand for trust in the Guild, or he could pick Mond, which would symbolize betrayal. Clive chose Stern and mortally wounded her when the time came to fire. Only then did he finally learn the truth: the guns in Kelley and Elza's duel had been tampered with, with Stern loaded and Mond left unloaded. Unwilling to allow himself to be manipulated by the Elders any longer, Kelley had deliberately accepted Mond instead of Stern.
Devastated by Elza's death and shaken by the manner in which he had been used by the Howling Voice Guild, Clive remained with the Allied army for the remainder of the war. Though he knows he is Sturm's rightful master, he has been reluctant to return to Harmonia to accept the position of Guild Master.
Two weeks after the end of the war Clive was in Radat, perhaps to relive a little past history before finally turning north towards Harmonia. However, one night he vanished from the town without a trace. He would reappear years later outside of Vinay del Zexay with no memory of how he'd gotten there. Several of the city residents have since pointed him north towards Budehuc.
